After all, let’s face it—you (the homeowner) don’t really know all of what’s involved in installing a window properly. So you have no clue if the installer is adhering to manufacturer specifications, utilizing the right measurements and clearances, properly leak-proofing the window, and so on.

Some window companies advertise extremely low prices on their website or in their advertising materials as a way to get you to contact them. Once the appointment arrives, however, that great “deal” turns out to be nothing but a classic bait-and-switch.
Take those $189 windows you see advertised by the big, national companies. That $189 price is for the lowest of low-quality windows. We’re talking 1 out of 10 in energy efficiency, performance, durability, and all the other important categories.
During the appointment, the salesperson will try to upsell you on “upgrades” or a more premium line of their window. As a result, you could spend anywhere from $800 to $1,000-plus per window—four to five times more than you initially thought you’d be spending!
How To Turn This Trick Into A Treat: A few options here. First would be to get quotes from multiple companies. This will give you a better idea of what Charlotte window installation companies are typically charging. A second option is simply NOT to be tempted into contacting a company when you see something like $189 windows on their websites. That low of a price is an automatic red flag that the company likes to pull the bait-and-switch.
Much like $189 windows, lifetime warranties sound amazing. Who wouldn’t want a lifetime of protection for something they just spent four or five figures on?
Unfortunately, some lifetime window warranties are “lifetime” in name only. The warranty may be prorated, meaning it covers fewer and fewer problems as time goes on. It may have exclusions that don’t cover certain issues at all. Or it might not include things like trip charges and parts, leaving you to foot the bill for these items.
To make matters worse, these loopholes and exclusions are often buried in microscopic fine print and legal mumbo jumbo. You may not even realize a problem isn’t covered by your warranty until AFTER it occurs and the company says, “Sorry, not our problem. Read your warranty!”
